ASTM RIP RAP

ASTM RIP RAP

ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)

Rip Rap is made from oversized boulders. It is broken to size, usually with a hydraulic breaker and then screened on specialized equipment to achieve the specified gradation. Rip Rap is used on various bodies of water including oceans, bays, rivers, lake shores and bayous, to armor the shorelines against scour and erosion. The smaller rip rap is used mainly in inshore environments as well as in rivers, lakes and streams for shoreline revetment, bridge abutments, outflows and similar applications. The larger rip rap is mainly used in the marine environment for use in building jetties, breakwaters and similar structures. Gulf Coast Limestone custom produces rip rap of any size, to meet the requirements of all types of projects and to meet the gradation specifications as written by the design engineer.
